Late in the winter in a remote alpine wilderness, Aulfvad lives the life of a fugitive, hoping to evade the alien, unnatural beings that pursue him. He knows little of his hunters' motives, his only clues coming from a few fragmented, traumatic memories from the day his simple, idyllic former life came to an end. As he struggles to live through the winter and faces the mental exhaustion of his prey-like existence, he is presented with a harrowing choice: He can attempt to take control of his fate, risking a direct encounter with his hunters, or he can avoid the risk and keep running.
