Bádunak - Resonant Cords

Type: Restraint

Lore:

Conjured as ethereal, resonant cords, Bádunak is an ancient technique. They are used to restrain and pin targets without causing permanent harm. The cords are conjured through rhythmic, strong melodies. They are driven by clear intent to bind, pin, or drag. This mélodi is favored for capturing or controlling targets in combat or restraining kíno.

Components:

Shard: Hána Shard

Instrument: Pávo

Emotion Focus: Firm determination and clear intent to restrain.

Wáni State: Focused, resolute, and calm, avoiding vengeful or cruel emotions.

Weaving:

The Wáni plants their feet firmly plays a heavy, rhythmic melody. Their fingers press confidently on the pávo drawing a metallic glow from the bracelet. A cyan radiance flows outward as a metallic ribbon unfurls. The ribbon coiling around the Wáni’s wrist in time with the music. Resonant cords fly out wrapping around the target’s limbs or body. These cords latch on by pinning or dragging them toward the ground. The song ends when the Wáni makes a locking sound on their pávo.

(Note: The melody is strong and rhythmic. the Wáni’s stance and gestures reinforce the intent to restrain.)

Effects:

Summons ethereal, resonant cords that wrap around a target’s limbs or body.

Can pin, trip, or drag targets, restraining their movement without causing lasting injury.

Duration: Until broken, dismissed, or the Wáni’s focus wanes (usually a few minutes).

Range: Short to midrange (10–20 feet).

Can restrain a single target effectively; multiple targets are more challenging for beginners.

Limits & Riskss:

Tight cords can cause bruising or minor sprains if over-tightened.

Looser cords can be broken or escaped from more easily.

Wavering intent can cause cords to recoil or snap, possibly briefly numbing the Wáni’s hands or arms.

Enraged or magically resistant targets can strain or break the cords.

Overuse or improper focus may weaken the spell’s stability.

Manifest:

The bracelet glows cyan before a metallic ribbon spirals out. A ribbon coils around the Wáni’s wrist, pulsing with each beat of the melody. The ribbon then segments into thorny links that fly outward latches onto the target. The cords lunge to pin or restrain, dragging or pinning the target to the ground. The cords shimmer with a faint, thorny glow, enhancing the sense of control and restraint.

Additional Notes:

The mélodi is most effective when performed with steady, rhythmic strength.

It’s ideal for capturing targets or controlling threats without causing permanent harm.

The Wáni’s focus, intent, and calm resolve are crucial for maintaining the cords’ stability.

This is a very strong spell concept it feels cohesive mechanically, emotionally, and visually. The cyan metallic ribbon breaking into thorned links is especially vivid One question: how does the Hána shard influence the personality of the chains does it amplify restraint and order, or does it subtly test the Wáni’s control over their own aggression If you'd like, I can also help you refine this into a polished grimoire style entry or balance it for gameplay.

The Hána shard reflects the Wáni's emotional and mental control. If the Wáni is focus, calm, and determine the shard makes the chains strong and reliable. If Wáni is anger the shard makes the chains unpredictable. The shard tests the Wáni's ability to stay in control while using it. Would like to hear your ideas about magic.
