Space Colonies were built to as temporary homes for civilians from Victoria. If you lived in a city under the umbrella of the Holy Thermydorian Empire, you are given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to start a new life in outer space. One can decline such invitation and remain in their abodes, at the risk of being obliterated as collateral by the raging war. It was an obvious choice if you appreciate your own life. These orbiting cities symbolized the Holy Empire's design of a highly-advanced technological society.

Amongst these civilians that were moved to the Space Colonies is a particular young man; an orphan from Yuma City named Thenchi Blackrock. Thenchi lived all of his life in an orphanage with his best friend Jess Lynxenburg, growing up together from being kids to young teenagers. Fortunately, Thenchi and Jess migrated to the Space Colony designated "Stadium". Accompanied by their fellow orphans of all ages and their caretakers, these two would begin to live a drastically different lifestyle. Under a roof of their very own sponsored by the Holy Thermydorian Empire as part of the Space Colony Project, hundreds of thousands of civilians were completely safe from the power struggle that happened back in their home planet.

A year after accommodating to their new home, Thenchi and Jess both attend an academic institution that teaches them the basic foundations of history so they can better understand the current political situation. Asides going to school, their lives are pretty mundane yet they stride on forward by maintaining social connections with their fellow schoolmates and neighbors, and keeping themselves updated with the war via their audiovisual projectors.

Another day of learning has ended, and Thenchi and Jess head back home...

Thenchi: How was history class for you?

Jess: Ugh, boring. It was the same lesson as yesterday's, only because half the class was sick and missed it. Talk about a wasted day.

Thenchi: Sick? Well that sucks. Mine wasn't any better, I'll tell you that.

Jess: Really? You're gonna tell me that the same lecture back-to-back isn't as bad?

Thenchi: Honestly I'd take THAT over what we went over. The teacher thought it would be a great idea to talk about the ongoing war.

Jess: THAT is what your lesson was on?!

Thenchi: Yup! We saw things on uh... the old Parliament, the formation of the Rebellion, why the war is being fought...

Jess: Were you at least paying attention? You know you're going to be quizzed on that!

Thenchi: I'll be honest, I was daydreaming of being in bed.

Jess: Hah! You're helpless. Lucky for you, we're almost home.

Thenchi and Jess have spent their entire lives together. By relying on one another, they survived the hardships of being orphans, and this unbreakable bond is what have kept them sane and tethered through the historical conflict happening on Earth. Thenchi, who spent his first year in the Second Chance Orphanage in Yuma City, was fortunate to had been befriended by Jess when he was five years old. Since that moment, they've spent every living moment without each other.

Thenchi: *Letting out a deep sigh* We're finally home. For some reason today felt like it wasn't gonna end.

Jess: You can relax now! Are you hungry, by the way? I'm starving over here.

Thenchi: Yeah I think I can eat something light. Oh-! I almost forgot; the teacher did say that we should tune the television on today part of the lesson. She said it's an important deal or event, or something.

Jess: Television as part of homework? That's a first. Do you know what she wants you to watch?

Thenchi: Uhh... nope. Was too busy daydreaming. I just know that it'll be on channel 22 later tonight, so... I guess I'll tune in right now.

Jess scrambles around the kitchen looking for their boxed meals. The denizens of space colonies are all given bi-weekly caches of boxed meals sent aboard carrier vessels from the mighty capital home of the Holy Empire, Neo Bygeniou City. Food specialists and agriculture economists collaborate together in order to find the most economic and financially feasible manner to grow crops, cook the meals, and ship the containers. While it is not the most pleasant way to nourish the body, space colonists accustomed to the lifestyle in a matter of months. They have also been given the chance to personalize their own boxed meals in the chance the ingredients used don't mix well with their bellies.

Thenchi: What'd you find for dinner?

Jess: How about... some... poultry lasagna?

Thenchi: Sure! I like the lasagnas. Channel 22, alright... it's one of those live broadcast channels from Neo Bygeniou. I wonder what's this all about for it to be part of the homework...

Jess: You seriously don't remember anything at all? Not even like... a name or something?

Thenchi: I'm telling you, I was doing something more important! Daydreaming!

Jess: If you keep daydreaming, you're going to fail the classes, it will be on your academic record, AND we both will have to pay the consequences!

Thenchi: Oh don't you worry, I always manage. But I will try to daydream less, I promise.

As Thenchi awaits for something of remote interest to happen in the television, Jess keeps to herself in the kitchen as she unboxes two poultry lasagna meals and places them inside the a compartmentalized heater, big enough to fit the two dinners together.
