My name is Graeme Barber, and I have become a writer in the most roundabout way possible. I've always been creative, and got into the habit of writing through a common entry point: tabletop RPGs. And that's where it stayed for ages, until after I'd had multiple tours overseas with the Canadian Army, after I'd worked as a commercial and scientific diver, and was finally settling down. Then RPGs were back as I became first a critic, then a writer, for RPG content. And along the way my good friend Diane convinced me to do a NaNoWriMo, and I succeeded in 2016! Now I'm doing the creative thing fulltime, and it's time to write! My writing career so far has been game oriented, with highs like being involved with Blue Planet: Recontact, Hard Wired Island, and Rivers of London. I've also written my own games, where Fight City: The Roleplaying Game has been a surprise success. I love world building and now I'm bringing it all together here.
Scuba diving is the biggest one, I also enjoy range days and putting holes in paper, swimming, and a variety of other activities. I also low key keep my hand in archaeology and continue to be fascinated by Carthage.
I have a serious weakness for Hong Kong action movies from the 70's through the 90's. And 00's. And 10's. And 20's... Not just the Jackie Chan or Sammo Hung ones. Like, all of the them. I love watching them!
For live action, it's all about Columbo and Red Dwarf. For animated action, I love Lower Decks, the Justice Leage, Young Justice, and a frankly alarming amount of anime.
The Laundry Files series by Charles Stross, he Honor Harrington series by David Weber, the Hammer's Slammers series by David Drake, The Deed of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon, Mighty Good Road by Elizabeth Scott, the Fifth Millenium series by S.M. Stirling et al., the Warhammer 40k novels (these are my trash, leave me be!), and a lot more. This is just off the top of my head.
I'm all about classic 16bit JRPGs and arcade racing games. Secret of Mana, Need for Speed Heat... Love 'em!
